Hey, you know how we find out about that important stuff? The internet.

The internet has provided a very fast way for the average citizen to fact check bullshit. You know who doesn’t like that? The government and politicians. They really don’t like it.

Look at how the internet changed the way people organize against government policy and corrupt regimes. For people who are in the business of power, that’s fucking scary.

If you think this is really about movies and music, you’re wrong. If it starts there where do you think it will spread? The MPAA and RIAA have not been losing profits. Exactly the opposite really. So this has nothing to do with the money they are owed. It has everything to do with people being able to access information without having to slog through red tape and fees only to be presented with censored or incomplete documents, research, etc.

So, yeah.
